CARIMENSA in association with McGill University, the Jamaica Psychiatric Association & the Dept. of Community Health & Psychiatry at The UWI, present a two day Global Mental Health Conference, March 31, - April 1, 2018, titled "Mental Illness Violence & the Delusion of Freedom: Exploring the Legacy of Frantz Fanon, Caribbean Psychiatrist, Philosopher & Revolutionary". The two day conference will be held at the Faculty of Medical Sciences Lecture Theatre, UWI Mona.
This Global Mental Health Conference will explore topics including, “Maternal and Child Mental Health Challenges”; “Mental Health and Violence” and "The ‘Rude Bwoy’ Psychopathology and Violence in Jamaica".
The speakers include: Dr. Altha Stewart, President Elect, American Psychiatric Association; Professor Frederick Hickling; Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, UWI; Dr. Earl Wright, President Jamaica Psychiatric Association; Dr Hilary Robertson-Hickling; Professor Wendel Abel; Dr. Christopher Charles; Professor Roger Gibson; Dr Geoffrey Walcott; Professor Dixon Chibanda from Zimbabwe and Professor Jazwant Guzder from Canada among others.
